Bird Flu (Avian Flu)

While at YSPH, I created a variety of Instagram-first content aimed at both the general public and individuals with a general interest in public health. This included timely posts about emerging public health concerns, such as the bird flu outbreaks, translating complex information into accessible and engaging visuals.

Timeframe: April 2024
Role: Social media strategist and designer

One of the most important aspects of public health social media is the ability to translate complex and emerging health risks into timely, accessible, and visually engaging content for the general public. For example, during the bird flu outbreaks in April 2024, I created a post that broke down the nuances and complexities behind the news, explained the origin of the outbreaks, shared the latest updates, and addressed common public questions such as, “Is it safe to drink milk?” See the Instagram post here.

We partnered with the massively successful Katelyn Jetelina, creator of Your Local Epidemiologist, to gather the content and create this co-branded social media post.
